Singapore Football Club (SFC) have announced today that former Singapore Lioness, Vaan Arumoha has been appointed as their Head of Women’s Football.
In addition to her comprehensive coaching knowledge, gained at a number of Singapore based academies, Vaan Arumoha is also able to draw on her considerable playing experience that stretched over seventeen years.
During that time Vaan Arumoha notably finished as top scorer in the Women’s Challenge Cup twice, and represented Singapore on ten occasions. Her former clubs include Bishan Arsenal, Tiong Bahru FC, Police FC and ITE Women’s team.
“We are thrilled to have Vaan joining us” said Singapore FC’s Managing Director, Dom Lane. “Vaan’s enthusiasm and passion for football, both on and off the pitch, mirrors our own commitment to growing women’s football in Singapore – especially as we prepare for the start of the Women’s National League.
In her new role Vaan Arumoha will not just be responsible for spearheading SFC’s Women’s National League team. As Head of Women’s Football she will also work alongside SFC’s Head of Youth Development, Syed Karim Bin Syed Hussin, in developing SFC’s “Pathways & Opportunities” for female footballers at Singapore Football Club.
SFC Pathways & Opportunities
SFC’s Pathways & Opportunities programme ranges from helping four year old girls, just starting out at the club’s grassroots academy, to ensuring that SFC’s girls team players have pathways through to Singapore Football Club’s women’s first team, and ultimately beyond to the Lionesses.
“Our objective is to inspire and influence a generation of female footballers and help them reach their full potential.” said Vaan Arumoha
Singapore Football Club is one for Singapore’s fastest growing sports clubs that includes three men’s teams, two women’s teams, and a grassroots academy that caters for girls and boys between the ages of four up to nineteen years old.
The club has three main focuses:
1). Providing Pathways: Empowering players to fulfil their personal objectives
2). Providing Opportunities: Enabling Singaporeans of any age, or ability, to have the opportunity to play football
3). Character Development: Developing positive character traits, so that their young members can thrive on and off the pitch
