jssl cup success for SFC!

Singapore FC (SFC) had a very strong showing at this year’s JSSL FA Cup with all of our twelve Singapore FC teams performing admirably, across all the different age groups. The club was one of only four participants, out of eighteen, that had teams playing across all five age groups, in the boys tournament. A great reflection of the club’s strength in depth, and the commitment of our members.

SFC Boys Under 18s (2004): The club performed especially well in the Under 18s, carrying out a clean sweep with our teams winning both the Cup and also the Plate competitions. In the final Singapore FC fought back to win 4-3 against a strong Project Vaults Oxley French team. Congratulations to all involved!

SFC Boys Under 16s (2006): In the Under 16 age group Singapore FC also won the Plate. Our players showing a lot of spirit to lift a trophy after a frustrating first day. Something our coaches work especially hard on, is teaching the players how to respond to challenges and we were very proud of the response and determination we saw in the semi final and final.

SFC Boys Under 15s (2007): Our Under 14 team, showed just how much they missed competitive football by scoring the highest number of goals in a single tournament game. Singapore FC 2007 managed to win their first match 15-0 !

SFC Boys Under 14 (2008) & Under 13 (2009): In the younger age groups the Under 14 and Under 13 teams also performed admirably. A special mention going to our “Singapore FC 2008 Red” players, who won their first four games with aplomb before coming unstuck against a talented Turf City side.

Regardless of the results, it was fantastic to see the players back on the pitch after two long years without matches. Finally having the opportunity to demonstrate all our talents, passion and enthusiasm during the tournament was great for all involved. It has been a challenging time for everyone, and it was so nice to see all the players’ patience finally being rewarded.

Last but not least, the club would like to thank all the parents and volunteers that stepped in at the last minute to help. COVID restrictions and safe management policies continue to throw curveballs at all of us, and we are extremely grateful to all those that helped make the weekend possible.
