Partnership announced with GuardSport

– Singapore FC sign partnership with child athlete safeguarding specialists GuardSport

– The GuardSport Project is a resource that supports best practice in safeguarding and child protection in Sport

Singapore Football Club (SFC) is delighted to announce a new partnership with GuardSport, an organization dedicated to promoting safeguarding and child protection in sport. 

GuardSport’s mission is to highlight and give access to important safeguarding and child protection practices and development. The broader GuardSport Project offers a valuable resource for fostering safeguarding cultures within sports clubs and institutions, ensuring the well-being of young athletes in Singapore.

Andy Martin who is spearheading the GuardSport Project explained “This partnership underscores our shared belief that safeguarding practices in sport are critical for creating a safe and nurturing environment for young players. SFC are actively looking to move their club from a safeguarding policy to a safeguarding culture.  We are delighted to be able to support them and hope that many other sports clubs, working with young athletes,  will also recognise the importance of embedding safeguarding best practices in their institutions.

SFC Managing Director Dom Lane went on to explain that “SFC’s partnership with Guardsport represents a significant step forward in our club’s commitment to providing top-quality football coaching to children aged 6-18 here in Singapore. Whilst we have already engaged with core safeguarding specialists, including SafeSport Singapore, the collaboration between SFC and GuardSport signifies our dedication to creating a safeguarding culture that prioritizes the well-being of our young athletes, whilst also ensuring that safeguarding cases are handled professionally and in accordance with the best practices in sport.

About GuardSport: The GuardSport project aims to have as many clubs and sporting organisations signed up and committed to distributing regular sports safeguarding practice, information and updates. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Regular community updates and reminders are a cornerstone of creating a safeguarding culture. GuardSport offers both bespoke and general sport specific safeguarding training.
